Jerusalem's 2016 Light Festival featuring the FOZ Museum Video art show
Magical Lighting for a Magical City
Jerusalem is a magical city to visit at any time of year, day or night, but even more so during the annual Jerusalem Festival of Light. The festival - one of an elite group of light festivals held around the world – attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors from Israel and abroad who stroll the picturesque lanes of Jerusalem’s Old City taking in its enchanted ambiance while its walls and cobblestone streets are illuminated with an amazing variety of modern light art installations created by local and international artists.
This year, the light festival will not only feature lighting installations around and inside the Old City but also in the new city as well. Among the “stars” of the latter section will be the video mapping presentation on the frontage of the Friends of Zion Museum near the foot of Hillel Street in downtown Jerusalem. This imaginative and stunning light show, lasting nearly 5 minutes, creates dynamic images, architectural designs and even portraits on the museum wall, with dramatic musical accompaniment. Don’t miss it! Showtimes during the festival are from 8 to 11 p.m., May 25 to June 2, 2016.
The participation of the Friends of Zion Museum is a tribute to the city of Jerusalem, to which the museum is such an integral part with its story of the love and yearning for Zion as expressed not only by Jews but also by so many non-Jews who have prayed and worked for the restoration of the Jews in Zion and their capital Jerusalem. It is therefore fitting for the museum to be part of this wonderful Festival of Light that captures the imagination each year of both Israelis and visitors. the Festival is a great attraction in a Holy land tour.
The Jerusalem Festival of Light is presented by the Jerusalem Development Authority, the Ministry of Jerusalem and Diaspora Affairs, the Jerusalem Municipality and the Ministry of Tourism. It is produced by the Ariel Municipal Company.
The Museum offers extended hours for tours during the Jerusalem 2016 Light Festival.
A 19:00 guided tour will be offered daily, ending with a breath taking Video Art presentation in front of the FOZ Museum building starting at 20:00 where guests will be invited to continue their visit touring the many light installations in the surrounding area. Tour by reservations only.
