Every Year on January 27 the world commemorates the International Holocaust Remembrance day, to honor the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust and millions of other victims of Nazism. The date, designated by the United Nations General Assembly marks the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau Camp.
In addition to serving as a date for official commemoration of the victims of the Nazi regime, it is also a day to promote Holocaust education throughout the world and to rejects any form of Holocaust denial.
Remembering the Holocaust are essential for future generations to learn about the past atrocities. The Friends of Zion Museum in Jerusalem takes part in remembering the holocaust on a daily basis. The FOZ Museum present the “Lights in the Darkness” exhibit that tells the stories of the Righteous Among the nations, those whose faith and consciences drove them to save the lives of Jews, young and old, during the Holocaust in Europe. Heroes, who only some of them survived the horrors of the Nazi regime, that couldn’t stand by and do nothing.
FOZ Museum set itself a target to tech and educate its visitors about the Nazi Horrors and the amazing Righteous Among the nations who couldn’t stand by. Using ground breaking technology the “Lights in the Darkness” exhibit presents in an emotional, animated, black and white scenes depicting wartime horror and suffering on the one hand and untiring efforts towards rescue on the other. The exhibit presents the exceptional actions of Oskar Schindler of Germany, who used his influence with the Nazis to save the lives of slave labor Jews working in his factory; Irena Sendler, a Polish nurse who smuggled Jewish children out of the Warsaw ghetto, thereby rescuing them from certain death; the Ten Boom family of Holland, who hid Jews in their home and many more.
Dr. Mike Evans, Founder of the Friends of Zion has met in the past 2 years with many world leaders including, President Donald Trump, Rosen Plevneliev, the 4th president of Bulgaria, the president of Guatemala, Jimmy Morales, Pope Francis, and hundreds of other diplomats from around the world. The holocaust and anti-Semitism are brought up in these meetings and together they discuss the ways to fight them.
The Friends of Zion Heritage Center fights anti-Semitism with its 33 Million supporters globally on the social media.
